God Is Counter-Culture ← Back to the portfolio
This painting is the first in the second chapter of 75 paintings out of a total of 225. It reflects what was bubbling away beneath the surface of society in the twentieth century – the growth of a counter- culture. Despite its undoubted hedonism and excess the counter-culture which began to shape the post-war period to explode in the 1960s, was a very spiritual movement. The colours used here are intended to take us back to the colours that surrounded the counter-culture – the vibrant orange.
